Commonwealth bronze medalist boxer Jasmin Lamboria joined the Indian Army today. The Army is known for promoting and training athletes and already has champion boxers Amit Pangal and Muhammad Hussamuddin.

20-year-old Jasmine Lamboria is the first female boxer to be drafted into the Indian Army.

“The Indian Army has recently inducted a very talented boxer and CWG 2022 bronze medalist (60kg) Ms Jasmine Lamboria in its ranks as a Recruit Havildar in the Military Police Corps,” the Army said.

Army said the Haryana boxer is already a force to be reckoned with in the world of boxing.

Jasmin Lamboria won medals at Khelo India Youth Games 2020, Women’s National Boxing Championship, International Boxam Tournament, ASBC Asia Elite Boxing Championship and Women’s World Boxing Championship.

Jasmin Lamboria will soon start training for the army as part of the Miss Olympic programme, which has already produced champions like Neeraj Chopra and Avinash Sable.
