Many leaks claim that Apple’s new iPhone 14 range is getting more expensive, and fans are bracing for a significant price increase on the iPhone 14 Pro models. But what if they are wrong?
In a major new website, citing sources with the latest iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Pro devices, leaker yeux1122 claims “the price may be in a different direction than expected.” As surprising as this may seem at this late stage, yeux1122 has a history of going against the tide and being right.
While yeux1122 doesn’t elaborate on this, “a different direction than expected” suggests the price is going down, not up. And there is evidence to prove it.
The price of last year’s iPhone 13 started at $799, and the iPhone 14 will use the same chassis, rear cameras, display and chipset. Yes, global inflation is on the rise, but phone parts drop like a rock once they stop cutting. This is why Apple can discount older iPhones while maintaining profit margins.
So it makes no sense that Apple has priced the iPhone 14 at $699, putting the range at the same entry point as the iPhone 13 Mini. On top of that, the $799 iPhone 14 Max will sell like hotcakes, and Apple will manage to widen the gap between the iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Pro to $300. This is in line with the company’s efforts to further differentiate between Pro and non-Pro products.
Couldn’t this story be late in the calendar? In defense, yeux1122 has a plan. In March, the leaker denied the claim that the iPhone 14 will have slimmer bezels than the iPhone 13. A week later, leaked schematics showed this and changed the story.
This month, yeux1122 raised eyebrows by reporting that Apple will fit the MacBook and iPad Pro-focused M1 chip into the iPad Air. Many people scoffed, but Apple was right, interesting industry observers. Therefore, this spill should be treated with optimism.
The rest of the spy’s postings are less controversial. Yeux1122 reported the color options of the iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Pro that match the leaks last week, the A16 performance upgrade linked to the latest chip research, and 30W fast charging – again compatible with and new leaks.
So are Apple fans preparing for a surprise when the iPhone 14 price is officially announced? With the rising cost of living, maybe, maybe, Apple decided to encourage consumers in a better way.
