iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Pro buyers are facing a difficult situation. To date, iMessage and FaceTime activation problems, CarPlay and data migration, and shaky cameras have plagued their owners. And now reports are growing that the products are working again without warning.
Picked up by 9to5Mac, the issue has surfaced on Reddit, and it’s been going on as iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Pro owners have confirmed they’re having the same problem.
“I got the iPhone 14 Pro and since then I noticed that it restarts when charging (MagSafe / cable),” said the first photo. “It doesn’t restart at all when it’s off the charger. Anyone else have the same problem? “
Expanding on this, the affected iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Pro owners added that it happens on all versions of iOS 16, including the new iOS 16.1 beta, and the reboot happens on third-party and official Apple devices USB Lightning and MagSafe charger.
“There’s a panic file in the review log every time it happens,” said one owner. “This is the error line: SID 0 CTE invalid exception on reading DVA 0.”
Only one solution was found: turn off the background app refresh. But this may not work for long because it limits the ability of apps to function properly when not in use. Everything failed, from a factory reset to a full restore from backup with DFU.
Apple has already released two lightning fast updates for iOS 16, which address specific editions of the iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Pro, but more are needed. I have contacted Apple about this new issue and will update the post when/if I get a response.
