At least one person was killed and four others were injured in a shootout at a Paris bar, media said, adding that one of the two attackers was arrested by police.

The incident happened on Monday evening (local time) in the 11th arrondissement of the French capital, the Sputnik news agency reported citing the district mayor, Fran├žois Vauglin.

The borough mayor confirmed the shooting and that one of the attackers had been arrested.

He said there was “no element” at this stage to “know the motivations for this barbaric act”.

“A shooting tonight left one dead and 4 injured in a shisha bar on rue Popincourt #Paris11. There is no evidence at this stage to know the motivations for this barbaric act,” Vauglin said.

He added that the national police were “very actively looking for the second” shooter, and that “a medico-psychological cell will be opened as soon as possible for residents or witnesses”.
