The recent shooting came a day after another in Camps Bay, which left two people dead.

CAPE TOWN – Two people were shot dead and four others injured along Prince George Drive in Steenberg, Cape Town, earlier Thursday.

The shooting came a day after another in Camps Bay, which left two people dead.

Police said the motive for Thursday’s fatal shooting is unknown and is being investigated, but they suspect it may be gang-related.

Fredrick van Wyk of Western Cape Police said: “Crime scene experts are on the scene combing through the areas for clues. Steenberg police are investigating a double murder and four attempted murders following the fatal shooting.

JP Smith of Cape Town said the shooting appeared to be taxi-related violence.

“This appears to be an attempt by a taxi association to compete on their routes. We have associations that have frequently started operating on each other’s routes illegally and this is the quickest way by which the taxi violence begins,” he said.

Meanwhile, police said they were still pursuing gunmen responsible for a brazen shooting in Camps Bay on Wednesday.
